4th of July

Monday, August 22, 2011

The 4th of July was such a fun filled weekend for all of us.  We had so much going on but it was really a lot of fun to see the kids get excited about the day.  For at least two nights prior we had many "explosions" until at least midnight.  Which, generally is not a big deal, except the kids would not sleep.  They were scared and didn't understand what was going on.  Thankfully, the 4th fell on a Sunday and we did not end up with another two or three nights of the festivities continuing.

On the 4th we were able to hang out at the house and let the kids play with sparklers, snap pops, and smoke bombs.  They were in heaven!  This year Riley was able to pick out all the fireworks that we did and I am pleased to say we spent less than $20!  By the end of the evening we were able to just sit on our driveway and enjoy everyone else blowing up their money.  We had quite the show going on around us.....we have a feeling there must have been some sort of competition that we didn't know about.  It was better than some of the professional shows we have been to.  The kids loved laying out in the driveway and watching the fireworks from all around.  Maybe next year we will get in on the action.
