Turning 6

Thursday, April 24, 2014

It has finally hit me that my sweet little boy is going to be 6 in a very short time. Not really sure why this age has been so much harder to handle than 5, but wow am I a mess! Riley is such a funny, sweet, and bright boy that it is sometimes hard for me to realize that he is quickly becoming a little man. I can remember holding him in my arms at night rocking him to sleep.  It was our special time to just be the two of us. There were plenty of nights that he would fall asleep in my arms and I would choose to hold him just a little bit longer. I never realized that it would go by so fast.

As I watched him get ready the other morning it hit me like a ton of bricks. He has recently started wanting to do his hair himself. While he was putting the "finishing touches" on his hair he looked exactly like Danny does each morning getting ready. In that instant my baby was a little man!

I feel so incredibly blessed to be his mother and I look forward to watching him grow and change even more.....just maybe not quite this fast.

Pirate's Life for Me

It has been pirates, maps, and treats galore around our house.  We recently celebrated our little man's 4th birthday pirate style.  The past few weeks I have been scouring the lovely world of pinterest trying to come up with the perfect ideas. So, we ended up with water balloon cannon balls, pirate treasure hunt, and the ever popular pinata. It was such a fun night filled with family and friends.  It was definitely one to put down in the memory books.

More Pumpkin Patch

Thursday, October 14, 2010

Just thought I would share a few more pictures from our weekend at the Pumpkin Patch.  If you have not been to Walter's Pumpkin Patch you definitely should go.  We have been going since Riley was born and I love it more each year.
After spending so much time trying to get the pictures to line up just right I have decided to give up and just go with it.  Hope you enjoy, I just love seeing the complete joy in the kids' faces as they jump around and explore.
Happy Fall!!!!

I live for weekends like these

Have I ever said just how much I love the pumpkin patch?  I LOVE LOVE LOVE it!!! The kids get to have so much fun and run and play outside.  It has become a family tradition for us and every year I love it even more.  This past Saturday we made our yearly trip out to Walter's Pumpkin Patch.  Riley's favorite activity is most definitely the jumping pillow.  We were practicing our jumping for at least a good two weeks before our visit.  If he could have spent the whole day on that pillow he would have.

I think Hannah was just loved the fact she was outside and was being pulled around all day.  She is such a happy girl.  She is content just being by herself or when she is the center of attention.  When we took the hayrack ride at the end of the day out into the pumpkin patch would probably be my favorite part of the day with Hannah.  She was starting to get tired and wanted to be held.  So, I got to have some cuddle time with my sweet baby girl while we enjoyed the ride.

A highlight of the day was the corn maze.  The kids were so excited when we first started. Riley even needed to borrow Aunt Cole Cole's sunglasses.  About halfway through they gave up and decided they were too bored and tired.  So, they fell asleep right in their wagon.  At first they were both sitting up sleeping, but gradually the both fell forward.  Too precious!
After a fun filled day at the pumpkin patch we all enjoyed a quiet evening at home just relaxing and enjoying each others company.  On Sunday we ran errands and went to a birthday party for one of our good friends.  This was Hannah's first birthday party besides her and Riley's.  I am not sure what she thought of a bunch of silly 5 year old girls, but she was all smiles most of the day.  To wrap up our fun filled weekend we came home and grilled out.  What a great way to end a pretty fantastic weekend.

Just One of Those Days

Saturday, September 11, 2010

Have you ever had one.....you know the day that you had planned to get so much done and before you know it the day has pretty much gone by without even getting to that to do list. Well today is that day! I had so much planned that I wanted to get done and instead it seems that the day has just gotten away from me. Between the constant list of chores that is never ending to the kiddos who have decided that they only want to take 45 minute naps instead of 2 hours, I am surprised I have even been able to take a shower today!

On a brighter note the weather is absolutely beautiful. We have been outside playing all morning taking advantage of the great day. The kids received a play set for their birthdays and we have been putting it to good use the past few weeks. I am so excited for Fall to finally be here and the great weather that comes along with it. Of course we will be going to the Pumpkin Patch again as it has become a new family tradition of ours. I hope that the weather is as great as it has been in the past and we are able to get some quality time outdoors while we are there.

Hope that everyone is enjoying the day as much as we are!
